YEU Response to Sinabung Erruption

On Sunday, 29 August 2010; Mount Sinabung in Karo district, North Sumatra erupted and forced more than 27.000 people to flee from their houses.

HAP (Humanitarian Accountability Partnership) Workshop, attended by 23 staffs from YEU Lhokseumawe, YEU Padang, and YEU Yogyakarta and facilitated by Janaki Kuhanendran (Christian Aid), introduces humanitarian accountability system to YEU's staffs to meet capacity and accountability standardization.

Flood and landslides in morowali
YEU provided health care for two sub-districts, North Bungku and Mamosalato for around six weeks for 7.577 people of 2054 household.
YEU has conducted health care through its mobile clinic in the affected villages for around six months for 1,620 patients.
YEU also conducted supplementary feeding aimed for children in Taronggo (particularly in Ratubae hamlet), the IDPs camp in Mokoto, Tambarobone, Boba and Lemo villages. The health team provided mung bean porridge, chicken flavoured porridge, biscuit for babies above six months and milk for both babies below six months and expectants.
YEU conducted health promotion program alongside the health care activity, both in personal or communal.
For the psychosocial program, YEU Psychosocial team assisted 53 children in Taronggo (Ratubae hamlet).
YEU distributed non-food items like tarpaulins, blankets, mats and mosquito nets with total items 602. The distribution is focused in two areas, i.e. Ratubae hamlet and the IDPs camp in Mokoto.
