COVID-19 RESPONSE

Since the Coronavirus (COVID-19) was declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization on March 11, 2020, President Joko Widodo issued Presidential Decree No. 7 of 2020 regarding the Task Force for Handling COVID-19 which was set on March 13, 2020. 

The Head of National Disaster Management Agency as Chair of the Task Force for the Acceleration of Handling COVID-19, stated the Extension of the Status of Coronavirus Outbreak in Indonesia until 29 May 2020. Even though the status was set to end on 29 May 2020, the state of emergency was still in effect. This is confirmed by the issuance of Circular Number 6 of 2020 concerning the Status of Covid-19 Emergency as a national disaster.

YAKKUM Emergency Unit is engaged in interventions in the following sectors:

  • Health includes health checks (mobile/homecare), distribution of PPE packages for medical personnel and health services, distribution of masks, gloves, etc., provision of vitamins for the community and medical personnel, psychological counseling, psychosocial support, health promotion related to COVID-19.
  • WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) includes installation of accessible hand washing installations, training in disinfecting manufacturing, distribution of hygiene kits
  • Food includes providing food packages for the elderly, task forces, etc., distribution of vegetable seeds for the elderly and other vulnerable
  • Communication, information and education through the creation of information and education packages, capacity building through online.

YEU's intervention was carried out until the end of 2020 in several areas such as Central Sulawesi (Palu, Sigi, Donggala), Lampung, Lombok, and Yogyakarta.
